I'm new to counseling, how do I know if it's for me?If you're looking for a change within your life, let Embark Counseling help! Mental health counseling or substance abuse counseling is for anyone who is open to taking initative with their life, working collaboratively with the therapist, and implementing strategies and techniques as discussed in counseling.

Is mental health counseling/substance abuse counseling covered by insurance?Mindy is in-network with several major health care plans and EAPs for clients who wish to use their insurance benefits. Services can also be obtained through self-pay and potential voucher options. Mindy is also a Registered Service Provider through the State of Nebraska.

How long does therapy last?Therapy is most effective when the client and therapist meet weekly for 45-60 minute sessions. The "bulk" of the therapeutic work is done at the beginning of the therapy process. Unfortunately, there is no magic answer as to how many sessions a client will need to successfully reach their treatment goals as progress is dependent upon each indvidual client. As the client is reaching their therapy goals, therapy will phase out, or continue biweekly, or as necessary for the client.

Can I get prescriptions for mental health here?Medication must always be prescribed by a psychiatrist or other medical professional; this is not a service offered at Embark Counseling. Psychotherapy can be very benefical in overcoming different mental health symtpoms. At times, medication may be a utilized intervention; referrals can be provided if necessary.

Why choose a Marriage & Family Therapist (MFT)?Most people read Marriage & Family Therapist (MFT) and assume MFTs only see couples and families. MFTs are professionally trained to work with individuals in addition to couples and families. Being systemically trained allows Mindy to see the struggle at hand through the systems you are involved in, as well as previous systems which may have impacted you. Mindy is one of the few MFTs located in the Columbus, Nebraska area.
